Huh, that 'Bill' is in itself not that unusual I think. :)
Consider that it is derived from William.
They could have gone for 'Mac' or 'Buddy'.

All things considered, with the locale and such, probably lucky that it
wasn't a vampire named Bubba or, the long form, Billy Bob!

Being that it is an HBO show, it does have the possibility of being
pretty good.
