Stage-Dad Archuleta: "People Don't Like That"
Posted May 12th 2008 5:13AM by TMZ Staff
TMZ told you first about the ban on David Archuleta's dad backstage at
"Idol," and now Team David is trying to circle the wagons, but unlike
David's voice, it rings a little hollow.
People talked to David's voice coach and a guy from Utah who's been working
with the "AI" wunderkind on "arrangements"

You can often see how they sensationalize things in their coverage. At
Archie's visit back home, he was overcome with emotion at the number of
people who showed up at his autograph session, and all the swooning girls.
He turned his back for about 30 seconds to wipe tears from eyes. TMZ's
headline was "Crybaby" and that he was "bawling his eyes out". Hardly.

And I'm sorry, but it also wasn't David's business to ignore AI and sing the
lyrics either.
I'm not excusing the Dad--he appears to have substantial "issues." However,
he did not sing the song.
Just saying....

I do agree with you, and then I remember how I was at 17. Very
independent, traveling up and down the east coast riding horses for
whoever paid the most, but if my very strong-willed and influential
mother told me to do something I did it - no questions asked. Looking
back I don't understand it but I know how it can happen, and if I'm
not fooling myself in my assessment of my 17 year old self, I was
miles ahead of David in terms of maturity. I'm not surprised he did
what his father told him to do.
This makes me sad on so many levels. Don't you feel like all the fun
is getting sucked right out of this show?

1. Two words were changed, (beautiful girls) no "lines" were added.
2. It is only speculation, based on one article, quoting an anonymous
source, that Daddy Dearest "forced" Archie to change the words. You
state it as a fact, which we really don't yet know.

That is also only speculation. While it may turn out to be true, other
sources say that the issue only came up after the performance, and that
it hadn't been noted earlier.

It's low, low, low. Unfortunately, the mainstream news picks up their
garbage and reports it. Is TMZ trying to influence the outcome
of AI? They seem to have it out for Archie. It's not hard to
come to that conclusion. There's no standards for news
reporting any more. They just repeat the tabloids and avoid
all responsibility by saying "sources say"... People need to
be a little more skeptical.
