A middling debut of less than 94,000 albums sold. Came in at #4 and
behind Madonna, a Toby Keith Greatest Hits Package and the man
everyone complained was too over the hill for American Idol, Neil
Diamond, who opened at the top of the chart with his new album.

Still not too bad. This is his 4th album 5 years later and he still
manages to debut in the Top 5. Means that he does have a loyal fan
base. Compare that to the AI3 winner Fantasia whose first album
debuted at #8, and what happened to her 2nd album? Clay is the most
successful runner-up so far, and he has fared better than a lot of the
winners like Ruben, Taylor, and even Jordin Sparks. I loved Clay in
AI2, and although my interest has dwindled over the years (I'm not
shelling out money on his new album now for example), I do recognize
that this guy has talent (and heart).
