2008 Power Rankings - week 9

The ugliness continues as AI7 has the dreams of two of its remaining
three contestants within their reach. This week's Power Rankings (I'm
looking for an official sponsor of them, under my copyright; imagine
"The NASCAR AI Power Rankings" for example), provided the most internal
debate we've ever had. Until show time, a major shakeup was being given
major consideration. What we learned afterwards, well, the PR speaks
for itself.

3. Syesha Mercado - Wow, she appealed to the following demos: hot chick,
potential wardrobe malfunction, race, almost total sympathy etc. She
played every card she had but her dad and she won the pot to the final
three. Unfortunately, her voyage ends here unless the most
significantly stunning upset ever on AI occurs next week. Guess what
though, if that happens, right now, I'd say she'd be 50-50 to win
against the remaining David due to "other David hatred" by their
respective fans. I never thought she had Vonzell Solomon in her but I
got to give her mad props for how she negotiated the way to the final
three.

2. David Cook - Had last night continued the trend of the past three
weeks, I was prepared to make the most drastic reversal/call that I've
ever made in the PR, going back to when I almost put Elliott...

Well, I think it was the participation of the African-Americans -- you
would say in voting, I would say in ratings demos... But, however it
happened, she's The Best of the Rest.

No respect for Bob at all, but I think power ranking at this stage is
not as useful as in the early stage.

Cook is still producer's choice. A good week for Archuleta is nothing.
They are setting up the perfect angle for Cook's huge comeback next
week, and his eventual win. It is all scripted.

Simon has been making media tours in the past few days talking up Cook
and putting down Archuleta. He just got to pick a song for Cook and I
am sure TPTB will manufacture a moment for it next week. Paula also
made clear in a radio interview yesterday that she loves Cook but
think Archuleta doesn't deserve the praises Randy and Simon gave him.
I think next week your power ranking will have Cook as NO1.

But what has changed from week to week, really? Does that means Archie
won't win? I don't think so. I have this theory that America set eyes
on this kid earlier this year, and determined that they are going to
protect him whatever it takes.

Why my post disappeared?

I think the power ranking is less useful in the later stage than the
earlier stage (no disrespect for you Bob).

Cook is producer's pick. One good week for Archuleta means nothing.
SImon and Paula has been making media tour to talk up Cook and put
down Archuleta just the past two days. Simon picked his song and set
up for the next week's greatest comeback moment for him. I am 99%% sure
you will put Cook as NO.1 in next week's ranking.

But does this mean Archuleta won't win? I don't think so. That's why I
say power ranking in later stage is less useful because so much has
been decided already. I have this theory that when America first set
eyes on this kid, they have decided to protect him whatever it takes.
So we will see what happens, is it producers win or "America."
