David Archuleta - Stuido Version of "When You Believe"

Author:
Date: May 2, 2008 21:58

Whoa! I just listened to Archuleta's studio version (with
hgih-quality headphones) of this Mariah Carey song that he sang, and
it's amazing. Literally gave me goose bumps:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=123_f5FCLq0

Not only does he have a distinct, pitch-perfect voice, but he sings
this very difficult song with ease, feeling and believability. This
17 year old kid has everything it takes to be a pop star; at his young
age his vocals are already mature and professional -- and his
potential is incredible. Until I heard this I was starting to get a
bit bored with him, but listening to this made me realize that he is
what this competition is all about. He could be a megastar in the pop
field as Underwood is in C&W. Probably even a crossover artist.

I've been listening to Jason Castro's studio versions also, and am
nearly as impressed with him. Unfortunately for some reason, Jason
sounds better with audio only then when watching him sing. I'm not
sure why, maybe his facial expressions or demeanor are distracting --
but the hypnotic unique quality of his voice comes through clear as a
bell.

Reality TV Article Claims Sayesha Received 2nd Lowest Vote Total

Author: JohnGavin

There's been alot of conversation about the fact that Sayesha may not
have actually received the second lowest total of votes.

This article claims she did.

I tend to believe she did too, even if it wasn't articulated on the
show.

Saints Unnamed say,
"Hours of speaking right now could
take pages of deliberate concern and
deliberate methods, of how Words can

strengthens or just alerts what the
conversation can open: something to

Jason Castro Says "I'm Kind Of Ready To Go Home"

Author: Judy Haffner
Date: May 2, 2008 11:10

American Idol 7 finalist Jason Castro didn't get voted out on Wednesday,
but he's ready to go home.

On Monday, well before the performance show, he told Entertainment
Weekly, "What happens happens. I'll sing and if people like it, they
like it. And if they don't, they don't. I'm kind of ready to go home."

He's so ready to go home that he basically blew off practicing. The
magazine reports that "his brother and a friend had visited over the
weekend and that his Saturday meeting with Diamond had gone 'really bad'
because he didn't yet know his songs."

Why the ambivalence? "It's been overwhelming. I got 150 balloons
yesterday delivered to the studio because people heard I was sick last
week. That's cool, but that's just weird," Jason said.
..................................

Maybe this accounts for Jason's attitude on Result's night this week. I
got the distinct feeling that he really didn't care one way, or
another...if he stayed, or went. I think the judges have picked up on
this too, and sense a lack of effort on his part? I really like
Jason...he seems like a fun guy, but if he isn't serious about winning
then why should his fans care whether they vote, or not?

How About This For an AI Format Change?

Author: Chuck

Instead of this religious adherence to balance (top 24 = 12 male, 12 female,
top 12 = 6 male, six female)

why not go ahead and let more of one or the other into the finals, depending
on the talent pool that year?

a year ago, in particular, there were far more talented women than men, IMHO
this year just about everyone (meaning the judges, but I agreed) thought
there were more worthy men than women.

I think this idea of "fairness" is leading to a weaker field overall, and we
end up with weaker singers getting deeper into the competition.

Any thoughts?
