if i was so bad in this audition, why did you put me through the 4
levels before this?? are they supposed to pretend it's serious even
when assuredly a few of them must know they've been chosen because
they're bad (like in my case, i'd have no doubt, no matter what they
said)

other than the intentionally bad/memorable contestants, does anyone
how many of the horrible singers realize they are horrible? i was
going to ask about those two kids from seattle last (jonathon and
kenneth briggs), but i guess they weren't completely horrible. they
weren't good either. do you think they realized they were picked for
non-quality singer reasons?

i haven't watched the video, but on youtube.com, nick zitzmann
(probably my all-time favorite audition) goes into what really goes on
at the auditions.

The Disneyfication of Idol

It's time to let loose your inner Sanjaya.

Disney's Hollywood Studios, located at the Walt Disney World resort in
Florida, has announced plans to construct an American Idol attraction
at the park, which will not only put willing wannabes through the
rigors of an Idol audition and center stage performance, but which
will allow the more worthy performers the chance to audition for the
judges, for real, on an upcoming season of the show.

Scheduled to open in late 2008, the attraction will adhere to the
familiar steps in the TV reality competition, allowing theme-park
guests to experience what the road to Idol really entails.

Willing participants will first be allowed enter an audition room,
where they will do their best to ward off any errant pitchiness or
poor song choice and perform in front of a live Disney's Hollywood
Studios producer in a mock-up of the Idol set. (The Idol attraction
will take over theater space previously occupied by the Doug Live! and
Superstar Television.)
