Okay, what did people think of TAR's replacement? Good, bad or indifferent?
Should they have dropped the musical numbers?

They certainly should have. Also, the acting did not seem very good
to me. Melanie Griffith was the best.

The musical numbers were actually worse than those in Cop Rock. Cop
Rock was like a true musical with dialogue segued into songs, whereas
the songs in Viva Laughlin just seemed grafted on somehow. Plus Cop
Rock's songs were all original, specially written for the show, and sung
by the actors themselves; whereas in Viva Laughlin, the actors just
lip-sync along with various existing popular songs like Elvis' Viva Las
Vegas.
The old Cop Rock songs were way better, and yet that show bombed too:

Didn't watch it but apparently the ratings were a disaster. It lost over
half of CSI's audience and I believe according to the overnight ratings it
only had 8.8 million viewers and finished 4th in its time slot. If TAR was
on right after CSI I would like to think it would do a lot better than what
Viva did. Hopefully Les comes to his senses real fast and puts TAR back on
the schedule right away before Viva fucks up the Sunday timeslot.

CBS has announced they won't make any decisions on Viva Laughlin until
they see how well it does in its Sunday timeslot, where no one expects
high ratings. My guess is that they will broadcast about 3 episodes in
the Sunday timeslot and then CBS will pull the plug on it.
