Minor spoilers ahead.
If the teams in the lead had been racing for "more than thirty hours
straight" then how was it for the teams who were lagging behind???
Three teams missed flights out of Chiang Mai putting them about twelve
hours behind the other teams. Hours of operations in the next city
closed the gap a bit and may have enabled some teams to make up enough
ground to still be in the race next week. A physical challenge faced
by teams already overcome with fatigue caused several players to break
down and cry. A night spent in an airport was also a bit too much for
at least one of the players left behind in Thailand. A couple of
players sported bruises. The preview for next week suggests that
injuries may start to become a factor in this race (more so than in
the previous two TARAs).

Moderate spoilers ahead.
Ida and Tania were celebrating as though they had already won the
hundred thousand dollars when they got on the first flight to
Vietnam. I don't think they expected the second flight to arrive so
soon...

TAR Asia is so much harder than the US version. These people really have to
work to complete these race legs.
That being said, I think that one team failed to complete the final task of
the leg and should have had to go back and do it. As it stands, the ending
seemd very unfair.
Side note: this show now has a new villian. The bald guy, Geoff, didn't
strike me as a complete scumbag in episode #1, but he did this episode.
there is no claim for 'it was just the editing' with this guy. He is a
genuine jerk.
Side note: sometimes an episode of Amazing Race will really stand out as a
demonstration that looks can be deceiving. Fuzzy did several things this
episode that I would not have guessed would be tasks where she would be
functional, much less excel as she did.

It was hard to tell. If you're in a race and somebody says "Buy food"
then I would order $500 worth of rice and be done with it. Yes, you
are trying to help these people but you're also in a race. Pailin and
Natalie asked the charity organizers what they needed and the charity
organizers either assumed that the stores were all closed that late at
night or else just needed the money. We don't know how much of a gap
there was between them and the final team.

I thought the point where he screamed at the crowd of locals to go away
becasue he only wanted to talk to the driver was ove rthe top, as was him
grabbing the driver by the hand and dragging him toward the car. he also
spent most of the episode ragging on his teammate for being slow after he
got them behind through his wimpy efforts at avoiding getting shot / finding
a bag.

This episode was a real draining workout for the teams. If they keep
this up for a few more legs exhaustion is going to take its toll. I
like the paint ball as what seemed to be an athletic challenge wasn't

Major spoilers ahead.
I saw one of the repeats today. Henry and Bernie arrived first,
followed by A. D. and Fuzzie, Vince and Sam, Niroo and Kapil, Geoff
and Tisha, Ida and Tania, Pailin and Natalie, Mai and Oliver and Isaac...

Funniest airport scheduling moment came from whichever female racer said
that Ho Chi Min must be in China because the city was named after that fat
guy.

In the end, no one did 'sam pan', though I still think it was a very doable
task. Sure, rowing is tough, but so is carrying 50lbs of chickens through
the streets. I think 'sam pan' was given up on for the sole reason that it
was a task where one person would work/suffer while the other person didn't
and therefore, there is no mutual motivation to continue.

oars.
