Actually what I was referring to was the lack of any effort in creating
dramatic tension. The best example was the arrival of Kevin & Drew at
the Pit Stop while John Vito & Jill were still driving to the Hacienda
location. In previous years the editing would have made things seem far
closer than they actually were, thereby creating the dramatic tension
that I mentioned as we in the audience were left to wonder if there was
a possibility that the trailing team could actually catch the not quite
as far behind team. Another example would have been with teams actually
competing against each other in the Detour, increasing the tension by
getting us to wonder whether a trailing team would pull ahead of
another team who we could see working at the task. Instead we don't
even see a number of teams competing in the challenge. Worst of all -
although it was not an editing situation - was the fact that the choice
of Detours was cut and dry as it was. Only Rob & Amber attempted
Recover It and they gave up. Still dramatic tension could have been
increased by focusing on more of the time that Rob & Amber spent
looking for the epaulette and button as we see Oswald & Danny and Terri
& Ian racing towards the Hacienda. _That's_ what I mean.

The only teams that I'm really disappointed are in this Race are David
& Mary and Dustin & Kandice and that's for the same reason I felt that
Rupert shouldn't have been in the "Survivor" All Star season; it was
too soon for him to be considered an All Star and it is too soon for
them. I think that is particularly blatant when you consider that there
are no teams from TAR4 or TAR6. The two TAR10 teams can be seen as
taking up spots that could have been given to teams like (as examples)
The Clowns, The Bowling Moms, Tian & Jaree, Gus & Hera or Lori & Bolo.
Then again if you really want to see an All Star version of The Amazing
Race, get rid of most of the teams who are there and give the first
and/or second place teams from each season (except the one we don't
talk about) right of first refusal on positions. Just my opinion of
course.
