TAR 12 ... Some Surprises!

http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/the-amazing-race-12-run-shorter-drop-non-elimination...

In a race around the world, there's apparently little time to be wasted.

The Amazing Race's twelfth season -- which will air as part of CBS'
2007-2008 midseason schedule -- will run two episodes shorter and drop the
course's non-elimination Pit Stops in an effort to "create more excitement,"
executive producer Jonathan Littman told reporters at the Television Critics
Association summer press tour last Friday, according to the Orlando
Sentinel.

Non-elimination Pit Stops have been part of The Amazing Race since the
reality competition series first premiered in Fall 2001. For the show's
first two seasons, clues given to teams before each Pit Stop ended with the
statement "The last team to arrive will be eliminated" -- except in
non-elimination legs, which made it easy for teams (and home viewers) to
distinguish when they were coming up.

Given the cost cutting measures for the next season, I don't think 'exotic'
is the proper word. Maybe 'obscure' would be more accurate? The idea seems
to be to go somewhere cheap...somewhere with less spoiler eyes perhaps? I
doubt that TAr can avoid the spoiler hounds, though.

The 'ambitious task' is a great gimmick/hook to start with, but TAR really
has little depth beyond that. It isn't better than all the other reality
shows and the best two reality shows didn't even get nominated this year.
The Emmys are a dissapointment as always.

I have no clue. I guess the author likes Survivor and Big Brother? :)

I find Survivor very boring and dull and IMO.. this past season was a bust.
ANTM is very predictable....

ANTM? LOL! I'd pick "On the Lot" before ANTM. [But then again,
I'd pick just about anything - even BB - before ANTM.]

Survivor still seems 'fresh' compared to TAR, though. TAR hasn't changed
much of anything except the 'last on a non-elimination leg' rules. Maybe
getting rid of the non-elimination legs will help the show's pace a little
bit, but the 'tasks' are mostly pedantic.

I'm guessing you didn't watch last season...or the one before.
