TAR12, Ep. 2: "You couldn't hold Archie Bunker's jockstrap..."

Author: Ken McElhaney
Date: Nov 11, 2007 18:25

As this post fights its way through the numerous off topic political
rants, I sense that we are just warming up for the driving force of
why we are all here. To say just exactly which contestant we can't
stand and repeat that opinion until the world warms over, then freezes
again...then warms up again. Damn you, Al Gore!

I'm going to be different and say that I can't stand Phil...oh, I have
nothing against Phil...'cept maybe his choice of clothing, but why
should I settle for the obvious...like Nathan or Ronald?

Let's Get to the Teams:

Jason 'n Lorena
"Just grab the pole and go" seems to be second nature for Jason....did I
just say that?!

Nathan 'n Jennifer
How can such a stupid team finish so well?
Youth, people, youth.

Oh well, at least they have their screaming and undying hate for each
other in common.

Shana 'n Jennifer BQ2: Electric Boogaloo
One for all and all for one, unless you get dirty...ewww.

I swear I could see disappointment in her face when Phil told them
they were still in it. Then again, I wonder if she'd rather be
racing or spending the time locked up at Elimination Station with
him? It's a lose/lose situation.

On the first episode he mentioned wanting to make up the time he didn't
spend with her. Boy, he's doing a lousy job on the "father-daughter
bonding" thing.
Unless they spend more time in the race and he gets better, I don't see
any long term relationship between the two.

I think the most "Amazing" thing about this series is how there is no
collective memory whatsoever about previous seasons of the race.
Actually taking a few seconds at the Roadblock like Nic 'n Grampy did
to actually SEE what task would have to be performed at the Roadblock
is a rare, almost Einstein moment that was botched because the Geezer
chose to do the task.

I would disagree on this. It's pretty clear that they've watched the
race before. Given the assumed limits on roadblocks, it looked to me
that they were trying to have Gramps do the "easy" ones, and save the
tougher ones for the younger teammate. Since they had time, and
weren't worried too much about teams catching up, I think it was a
smart move.

I'll tell ya what, when others stop talking about Ronald I'll stop
getting on Phil's case.

Deal?

Oh, I dunno... I marked for the inclusion of "It's on... like Donkey
Kong", even if it was a pretty rotten and too early rendition of that
classic phrase.
