Not that American Idol is good this year. Actually this could be the worst
AI of the past 3 years. But it also means, if they don't give AI the Emmy
now, they won't have any more chance. Also, we might have reached the point
that voters are tired of giving Emmy to TAR. They might want to spread the
fortune and encourage competition.

Why? Is there a karaoke catagory next year?

Isn't it sad that Fox was the host of the Emmy's....had the show's
host as the Emmy host...even had a cameo by Paula...only to be OWNED
AGAIN!!! by Amazing Race? :)

Oh puh-leeze. To paraphrase a certain pianist, the American Idol
producers were crying all the way to the bank. AI may not be the
powerhouse in the ratings it once was, but I'd venture to guess that
CBS/TAR would give all five Emmys to have AI's ratings.

If it meant changing its format to allow for viewer voting, nah. AI could
have grunting pigs as contestants and still garner decent ratings due to
viewer voting. That doesn't mean it's a quality show. That just means that
people watch because they *think* they are affecting the outcome. I don't
think that CBS/TAR would stoop to those standards.

"Survivor" doesn't "stoop" to viewer voting to decide which contestant
stays or goes, yet it did pretty well in the ratings for a while. And
like American Idol, it hasn't won a "Best Reality" series Emmy
either. All I'm saying is that if given the choice, CBS/TAR would
choose American Idol ratings over winning five Emmys.
