While I love to see TAR get all the recognition possible, I can't say
this is a surprise. Phil really doesn't have nearly the level of
onscreen duties of of a lot of other hosts. He's terrific with what he
does, but I don't think I'd say he was "overlooked".

I don't really see how Mandel should even be eligible for this, but I guess
the talking to family members while they tell the player to 'go for it'
somehow makes it 'Reality' rather than just a gameshow?

Tyra is a judge on her show, as well as "host". "Judges" and "mentors" are
excluded from the category, hence no Simon Cowell, Tim Gunn, Gordon Ramsey,
or Tyra Banks.

What I read weeks ago about this category suggested that people that acted
simply as judges would not be eligible for the award, just as people that
acted simply as MCs would not be eligible. The idea was that people would
only be eligible if they were an integral part of the show. Tyra isn't just
a judge while Simon Cowell is limited to that capacity. Howie Mandel IS
just an MC (as far as I am concerned). I'd say that Gordon Ramsey surpasses
the 'just a judge' categorization as well.

Ignoring the 'who deserved to be on the list, but was left off' factor, I
maintain that Howie Mandel has no business being on it.

Only saw that show once, so I really don't know.

That's a game show for cryin' out loud. Kinda out of place compared to
the other shows (eliminations each week.)
