If one takes off the political blinders, one will discover that, with all of
his faults, Ted Kennedy has done more to benefit this country than all the
Bushes, Cheneys, Rumsfelds and Roves (yes, he is still active behind the
scenery) put together.

There is built into the "conservative" philosophy a bitterness and
viciousness I find closely related to religious fanaticism.
Ted Kennedy has led an immoral life. So has Newt Gingrich who dumped his
wife when she had cancer and took up with a bimbo. So has George W. Bush who
walked out on his National Guard service when the possibility arose that he
might have to fight. So have twenty or so Senators who have been alcoholics,
philanderers and liars.
None of this has anything to do with their service to the country. If my
Congressman is a woman chaser but a fighter for the things I want to see
done, he is a good Congressman, as far as I am concerned. If he votes
against my ideals, his sex life has nothing to do with his vote.
The blind hatred for Kennedy and Clinton shown by the Republicans doesn't
bode well for our country. I hope I never see the day when the zealots of
either party rule this country.

...we've had a zealot, albeit an ignorant and uncoordinated one,
running the country for two terms now. I've never been a Ted Kennedy
fan for the reasons you mentioned, but I would not make the kind of
comments that I've seen by the dittoheads in the last few days. I
respect what service he has performed for his country and now that he
is on the way out...there really isn't much more to say.
