Out of the ilk of human kindness Ditty and I decided to donate our old
laptops, one to a charity and the other to the couple next door, who are
compuphobes curious about what all this Internet stuff is all about. They
supplied a wireless card, and I got my old Dell Inspiron 7000 back up and
running, installed all the latest updates and was about to turn it over to
the neighbors when the keyboard started playing tricks, substituting numbers
and characters for the letters I was entering. I realized after a minute
that the keyboard was acting as though the Function key had been pressed,
enabling the keypad features. Sure enough, when I pressed the function key
the correct letters would be entered.

I've searched the Dell site and several others looking for a fix, but no
luck. Any suggestions for how to reverse the stuck Function key effect? The
laptop's not usable in its present form, especially for compuphobes.

I'm taking the red-eye flight tonight to New Orleans to attend my
nephew's wedding on Saturday. I've taken extra days to visit with old
friends and see what's become of my home town since Katrina. My last
visit to NO was a few months before Katrina, so this will be my first
personal observation. Friday through Sunday is family time, and I'll
be back on Monday.

So to everyone, have a great week and I'll see you soon. Don't get
into too much trouble while I'm gone. ;-)

Being a newbie in this newsgroup I'm not sure whether the

It is a huge, and I mean Huge program and will take some
time for me, at least, to learn to maneuver through it....

After much reading and much confusion, I'm not going to go and address
previous posts. Instead, I'll plow forward.

The postal service is once again charging 1 more cent for mail
tomorrow, bringing the total up to 40 some odd cents for one piece of
mail!

How much are you using it? How many items do you mail per month?

me? Maybe one or two at the most per quarter. I do all my business
(well 99%% of it) online. I don't have a need to send stuff out USPS.
