  Alkaline vs. Acid foods ?

Author: john
Date: Dec 26, 2008 08:45

Have people here ever tried to stay on a more Alkaline balanced food
regimine instead of Acid ? and has it helped your psoriasis ?

I saw an article about this and how psoriasis is because our bodies are
overly acidic.

Seemed like Figs & Cucumbers are #1 and #2 on the list alkaline wise. I was
also surprised to see that both Tomatoes and Lemons are both alkaline. I
always thought they were acidic.

Im also interested in psoriasis based food recipes (that taste good) that
seem to work as well.

any help is much appreciated.

thx

New Experimental Drug Much Better For Psoriasis

A recent short term trial reached the conclusion that an experimental
drug called Ustekinumab, produced by Centocor, is better than the
released drug Enbrel for treating moderate and severe cases of
psoriasis.

The disorder affects the skin causing some red scaly patches, called
psoriatic plaques which are areas of inflammation and excessive skin
production.

The tests were conducted over a period of 12 weeks on 903 patients,
which were either given ustekinumab (in a higher or lower dose) or
Enbrel. The patients on ustekinumab received a shot at the beginning
of the study and another one four weeks later. The patients on Enbrel
got two shots every week throughout the whole study.

Why I will no longer support the NPF

Author: Susan

x-no-archive: yes

I've been increasingly uncomfortable with the NPF as it and is
publications seem to have been completely co-opted by pharmaceutical
manufacturers. The latests NPF newsletter is almost nothing but untaxed
advertising for the makers of effective, but unnecessarily dangerous
drugs and little more. Little else is discussed or promoted by the NPF.

The final straws for me are the appointment of an executive director
from the ADA, a despicable organization that heavily promotes starch and
sugar consumption to diabetics. This serves their biggest sponsors
(grain, sugar and drug manufacturers) really well while causing untold
suffering and horrible deaths of uncounted diabetics. Perhaps the new
ADA president will bring some integrity to the ADA, but I've yet to see
evidence of it.

Further, in rebuke to a letter writer in the recent NPF newsletter, a
terse reply from the editor stated that research shows that P is caused
by the immune system.

Inactivity may be a greater factor in insulin resistance than aging

An article entitled, “Endurance exercise as a countermeasure for
aging,” published online on August 20, 2008 in the journal Diabetes,
concluded that the reduction in insulin sensitivity that often occurs
in one’s later years may not be an inevitable consequence of aging.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester,
Minnesota sought to determine whether long-term endurance training
could improve lowered insulin sensitivity (a factor in the metabolic...

Had a pustular P question today regarding the usage of
the wit kit. Like, will it work?

I don't know is that answer.

I'll let you know as the pustular psoriatic is going on it

[...]
Angular cheilitis (also called perlèche, cheilosis or angular
stomatitis) is an inflammatory lesion at the labial commissure, or
corner of the mouth, and often occurs bilaterally. The condition
manifests as deep cracks or splits. In severe cases, the splits can
bleed when the mouth is opened and shallow ulcers or a crust may form.

Both of them, to me anyway, would involve less of a Th1 skew
and more atopy dermatitis factors with Th2 leanings.

last letter in August 2007, our clinical trials with SYI-2074 for the

we opted not to move forward with the compound's development in this

Protein "Switch" Suppresses Skin Cancer Development

The protein IKKalpha (IKKα) regulates the cell cycle of keratinocytes
and plays a key role in keeping these specialized skin cells from
becoming malignant, researchers at The University of Texas M. D.
Anderson Cancer Center report in the Sept. 9 issue of Cancer Cell.

"We have shown that IKKα acts as a sentry, monitoring and, when
necessary, halting proliferation of these important cells. In the
first mouse model of its kind, we also found that deleting IKKα
spontaneously induced squamous cell carcinomas by activating the
epidermal growth factor receptor pathway," said senior author Yinling
Hu, Ph.D., assistant professor in M. D. Anderson's Department of
Carcinogenesis at the Science Park - Research Division in Smithville,
Texas. "These results provide new therapeutic targets for prevention
of skin cancer."
