Caseworkers criticized in death of 3 Nassau children

The Nassau County Commissioner of Investigations, in a report to be
released Saturday, lambasted the work of Child Protective Services
caseworkers investigating an abuse complaint against a New Cassel mother
less than a day before her three children were drowned.
CPS did not fully investigate a Feb. 22 complaint that Leatrice Brewer
was threatening her three children, according to a draft report by
Investigations Commissioner Bonnie Garone. On Feb. 24, Brewer's three
children -- Jewell Ward, 6, Michael Demesyeux, 5, and Innocent
Demesyeux, 18 months -- were dead, all by drowning. Brewer, 27, has been
charged with murder.

Who says it's not about money!
I wonder who the part timer was related to.

What a shock!

So . . . what else needs to be said?
Clearly, anyone who attempts to condemn an entire
agency or system because of the malfeasance of
three incompetents has an agenda that's as obvious
as it is devious.
The fact is that government child-protection
authorities are the only ones standing between
children and those who would abuse and, all
too often, kill them.
Those who rail against child-protection
authorities have motives that should raise the most
serious suspicions.
Many are child-abusers themselves. Some are
simply perverts and/or sadists.

"This is not a neutral report ... this is a report generated by
management."
***"It also found that the county "thoroughly investigated" nine previous
neglect complaints against Brewer over the past five years and had "no legal
basis to remove the children from the home.""

In Suffolk County, right next to Nassau County, both the DA's Office
and the Legislature in separate reports called CPS an accident waiting
to happen. Nassau CPS is no different.
And of course they didn't find systemic problems... because they want
the focus to be on this ONE mistake.
