pup got hit in face earlier by stick. clearly hurt but seemed ok

earlier eye was really red and puffy. he woke up just a bit ago and can't
even open it. least a 30 minute drive to vet

ARG

when my doggle was little i got her a crate to be in so she learned to
manage her bladder. she learned really fast so it ended up mostly as
her den for sleeping. now she owns the armchair as her bed.

anyway, she and the cat use the crate to jump on top of and see out
the window. the cat uses the crate as a step to get to the sill and
watch the world. doggle sits on the crate and looks out. (it's not the
only window they look out, just a different view)

cat is old and semi-feral. he and i love one another but he has claws
that don't quit. he is also one of the smartest animals i've ever
known. doggle is young and playful. cat rules. cat rules anyone who
enters my home.

the other day i was at the computer and doggle was in the bedroom.
whimpering starts. i murmured to her to come see me. more whimpering.
i call out to her again. louder. more whimpering. finally i get up to
see what is happening.

off to the toy store :)

this evening sir lala gets to use his own money to purchase something
of his own choice.

he's been saving found money, tooth-fairy booty, and allowance in a big
yellow crayon bank. he's recently started getting a weekly allowance
of $1 for using the hand vac to take up scattered cat food and cat
litter.

so when he and c get home, he'll be going to his crayon bank, taking
out his money, counting it, putting it into a baggie we give him, and
then trotting off with us to the toy store to purchase sir topham hat's
car. :)

Nothing much, just posting. Our weather continues to
be psycho; it is alternating snowing and high fire danger,
with winds that can knock fritz off his feet and keep the temp.
above normal. Gotta love spring in the Rockies *wry grin*

The kids have been off school since Wed due to conferences and
using up days cause we didn't have snow days this year. Today
was our official 'loaf around the house and do nothing day' so
I got three loads of laundry done *grin* The kids played camping
and something involving de*d fish (not real de*d fish!). We watched
two interesting shows on tv. They made dragons from clay and painted
them. We tried to play outside but got blown away. We watched a
mountain bluebird for almost half an hour.

Tomorrow we get to work more on the shed, work more on the front
porch (taking up the old wood and putting down new recycled
plastic wood for decking), hang up a big mirror and a big wall
hanging thing, get some supplies to do home schooling for the summer
(now that we've had conferences and know what to work on academically
to go with the regular non-academic projects we do), and get stuff
ready for next weekend's yard sale thing I'm doing at school.

the poor pup hasn't gotten his usual amount of play, outings and walks. So I
took him to the river. short walk and I rested at the river. then started
throwing sticks for pup. I reach down to grab a stick and as soon as I touch
it I realize it wasn't a stick it was a small, single point elk antler. How
cool!!!
