Hey guys,
I accidentally posted this in the dot pain group somehow. Aside from my own
post here, anyone that remembers Marcus- it looks like he's not doing too
great, getting back with the patches which were a nightmare for him, so if
you can, say a little prayer for him, or better yet if you have a good
address on him, drop him a line and remind him we all care about him and
he's far from forgotten.
I now return you to my personal paranoia, already in progress...
For those of you that understand HIPPA laws and have more knowledge of the
doctor patient confidentiality relation than I do (which means everyone
here) is there anything, a statute or statement, that...

Yes. You can ask the doc ahead of time if you can ask him a question
"off the record" but I'd bet the farm that he's not going to agree to
any pot smoking, so why bother?
Medical marijuana prescribing has been sufficiently marginalized, so
that unless you're dying from AIDS or cancer you can't get the same doc
that prescribes opiates to agree to pot as well. They just won't do it.
You can always find a doctor who will prescribe MM but that's all
they'll give you. Unless you have AIDS or cancer it's an "either/or"
Anyone who is subject to drug testing will never get the same doctor's
approval for MM. Even if you get the official OK from another doctor,
the doc that requires the drug testing is not going to overlook testing
positive for pot.

With my previous pain doctor, I saw him for over 25 years (he was also my
hand surgeon)
I would tell him that I did not want it put into the records and he always
honored my request.
He also "edited" my records without my express request. I was looking thru
his notes and found that
he NEVER documented our discussions about suicide.
He did say that I seemed somewhat depressed at the time - or he was
concerned that I may act out in a way that was
not in my best interest
But again, we grew old together

Dear IMH,
I don't know how old you are or the last time you had any exposure, but the
game has changed significantly. Pot is orders of magnitude stronger than my
days of the 70's and 80's. We had the exotic purple...

og -
my history with docs says that you can't really have a 'total' off the
record.
yes, they are often willing to just 'talk' without entering it into the
paper record, but there simply isn't any way to know ahead of time how
they will react in the long run concerning herb.
'if' [and it's a big unknown if] doc is 'ok' with it, fine, but if not,
then you will forever be under the spotlight and that is when the second
guessing starts about your motives, intent, condition, et al...
you also bring up the legal issue -
our old county attorney doug gansler is now the md state ag, and that he
is known to be a tough law and order advocate on drug issues, it is
almost impossible to know how his office will start reacting to these
issues. but i am not hopeful
given your facilitation of another, and should it ever be necessary, we
have one of the more agressive legal advocates for the md law right here
in silver spring [his office is just a couple of blocks from me, and
he's in the same building as our local center for independent living]

Dear Paul,

that far from UBL's goals- a return to the unenlightened days of the 15th
century. We should be up in arms he spend 15 million...
