New treatment gives hope for pulmonary fibrosis patients
ATS 2008, TORONTO—Patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
may have a new treatment option, according to researchers in Japan.

In a Phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, the
investigators discovered that a daily dose of pirfenidone could slow
the progression of IPF, reducing the loss of lung capacity. The
results will be announced at the American Thoracic Society’s 2008
International Conference in Toronto on Tuesday, May 20.

Well I finally had my sleep Dr appt. I really really like this guy. :-)
He spent a full hour with me discussing my history and sleep issues. He
asked me SO many questions. He gave me an exam too. He paid close
attention to my feet. The bad part is that my neuropathy is getting
worse. Now I can't feel any vibration or discriminate between sharp and
dull poking. No ankle reflexes either. My temperature detection is off
as well. Nobody has checked out my feet recently so I was really
surprised. Now I know why my feet have been REALLY bothering me lately.
It never even occured (sp?) to me that this was a possibility and it has
really gotten me down. At the end of my appt it was decided that I need
to have a sleep study, OG you were right on! Then we will talk again. I
believe this guy...
