There have been so many natural disasters as of late, what with the
major destruction of the monsoon, the tornados that have struck numerous
states, major floods, etc. It is just heart wrenching to read about,
see on the television, and hear about on the radio.
Almost makes celebrating mothers day or any other holiday seem to
shallow and heartbreaking due to the number of deaths and injuries and
destruction.
Almost feels like we need to do a couple of candle lighting/prayer times
for the world as a whole and for the pain and suffering of not only our
friends here on ASA but the whole world in general!
Maybe we could find a mutual time/date next week to do something like
this or perhaps even sunday evening when everyone is done with thier
mothers day celebrations???
Anyways, thanks for just letting me ramble a bit! It's all just so
sad!!!

had my mr images done yesterday morning. that's got to be the narrowest mri
tube i've ever been in! i don't know if it was an older model or a newer
one, but it felt like it was made kidsize. needless to say the hard metal,
sliding bed was a challenge because of having to be so still for so long.
during the last 7 minutes, pain just got to me, i started sweating and
getting nauseated. then, i started worrying if shaking would start, too,
and mess up the images so that they'd have to be redone. lucky for me it
was overwith before shaking started--didn't get to that shakey point,
actually. whew!

What if you could recapture your ex lovers mind, heart and
soul?...Wipe the slate clean? Turn back time? Even if you feel right
now that your situation is too far gone…too screwed up …or just plain
too darn complicated?
You already know how hard it is to just even wake up and roll out of
bed in the morning. You leave your radio off on your way to work
because every song is a painful reminder of him. You can't even bear
to eat at the same restaurants you took her to. And if that isn't bad
enough, you have to cope with the loss of friends and family that are
on "their side".
Did you know that most relationships can be salvaged? You may find it
difficult to believe that almost every break up for whatever reason…
infidelity, plain old lost passion, loss of interest, a stolen heart
and worse.
I have a blog that has more information on some of what I've been
writing about on relationships. If you feel like checking it out, you
can find it here: http://winningyouback.blogspot.com It's entitled
"The Magic of Making Up - 10 Tips to a Happy Relationship."

Dear Friends,
My spinal surgeon released me yesterday! PT was finished last
Friday. My back is 99.9 percent better. I scheduled my shoulder
surgery for 6-6. My surgeon is out of town!
Now I just have to get through my daughter's high school graduation.
She, my husband, and I are planning to play Handel's Water Music as
part of her graduation. My shoulder really hurts with playing! (And
I'm gonna miss my daughter!)
Thanks for caring!
Vickie B.

Local Woman Undergoes New Type Of Knee Replacement
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 20:49 EDT
KDKA-2-CBS Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
These days, people can have newer types of knee replacements, some specific for their gender.
The timing is still a big decision, because eventually knee replacements wear out.
KDKA's Dr. Maria Simbra followed a local woman who underwent the surgery for a newer type of knee replacement.
Sylvia Lesic, 39, was a little young for a knee replacement but with almost lifelong knee-cap problems, she is ready.
She did everything she can to prepare for surgery.
"They're working on my upper body strength, because chances are, I'll be on crutches and canes," said Sylvia before the surgery.
When she missed out on her favorite activity, she knew it was time to have the surgery done.
"This was the best fall to play golf, and I never wanted to play," said Sylvia. "And so, I thought this is impacting my life too much."
She had an ambitious plan for recovery.
Most people need 12 weeks after a knee replacement but Sylvia wanted to be back to work in just 4 weeks.
"The groove here is angled is a little bit different in the female version versus the male version. This one being a little more angled," said Dr. Yram
Groff an orthopedic surgeon at West Penn Hospital. "The shape of the implant matches better female anatomy than the older implants."
4 weeks after the operation, Sylvia was in physical therapy.
"There's no doubt about it, it's painful," said Sylvia. "And you have to be committed to doing the exercises, even on the days when you have pain. There were days I felt worse than even before the surgery. And I thought if I had to do it again, I'm glad I chose doing it younger because in the end, the end result is you'll have a better quality of life moving forward through my 50s."
But even moving forward, someday, she could come to a sudden stop.
Knee replacements can be expected to last 15 to 20 years.
