I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to those who have given
there time to complete the online questionnaire I recently posted (How
does chronic pain affect you?). Your involvement is invaluable and I
am very grateful.
There is still time if you would like to take part and have not yet
(no pressure if you don’t want to – I do understand not wanting to do
endless surveys etc.)
Here’s the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=XxVb963D4Y3kJleC8vmBKA_3d_3d
Thanks, and hope all’s well,
Rosemary

In addition to the TOTALLY HIP site already mentioned, there is
also http://www.hipreplacement.com/DePuy/inspire/index.html
"Visit the INSPIRE section for inspirational support
and stories of hip replacement patients."
I haven't been there in quite awhile, thus I don't know how
active it's been the past 5 or 6 months.

Go Gently With The Flow
If the Sky above Seems Cloudy and You are Left Out in the Rain,
If You are Searching for a Rainbow, But the colors bring You Pain,
If Your World is Not Revolving, and there is No End in Sight..
If You are Looking for the Sunshine, But all You See is Night..
If all around are Smiling, But all You Can do is Frown..
If You are Tired of all the Living, when Life Just Brings You Down..
Then Look Beyond Your Tear Drops, at the Wonders of this Land..
The Beauty of a Flower, Like Velvet in Your Hand..
Feel the Air around You, the Smell of New Mown Hay,
Laughing Children in the Park, the Innocence there at Play..

I've been having a lot of trouble with my big toe and an ingrown toenail
for some time and yesterday it was all infected. I got all the 'stuff'
out but this morning it was still all red and purple, so I figured I'd
better go to the podiatrist. They fit me in (nice people that they are)
and it's a good thing I went as my nail was deeply imbedded in the skin.
He numbed my toe and took a big piece of nail out. He said once it
heals, I won't have the ingrown toenail problem anymore. But now that
the numbness is coming out, I'm thinking it's time for some tylenol. Or
maybe some wine and cheese :)) OK, I admit it, I just need some sympathy
:)))

Hi all,
I just got a new MAJOR ankle brace. There is a steel shank inside the
sole of my shoe (they cut the sole, then glued it back together). then
there's a channel cut into the sides of the heel of the shoe and a
metal bar runs through that and is attached at either side to metal
posts which run up the sides of my leg to a leather strap just below
the knee. couldn't find a picture of this, which would make it much
easier to explain!

A friend of a friend is going to have a hip replacement soon. I know there
has been mention on here of a group of 'hippies' where a person can get lots
of great info, but I cannot remember the address. (I found all the medical
sites.) Can anybody tell me? Thanks!

"Theater of the Mind" - cant say that I ever heard it discribed as
that but there is no better discription.
We once had a neighbor who repaired harness and saddles in his spare
time. Since we were good friends, I spent many an hour with him,
listening to the radio while he worked away. (TV what was that!) My job
most often was picking the old stiching out of the skirts getting ready
for new padding. Often an hour would pass with only a few words passed
between us. The names of those old programs escapes this old geezer's
mind but I can sure relate to what you say.
I also read a great deal. Book of the month stuff, from a friend to a
friend to my daughter to me(G). With my surperb memory, I can pick up
a book six months later and it is just like brand new(G).

Subj: OTR thoughts? (Old Time Radio)
________________________________________________________________
Now that this OTR stuff has popped up again, I was listening to a few of
my favs again - one of course is the "Suspense, House In Cypress Canyon"
episode and as that plays and just pulls me into it, I had some thoughts
I'll share.
I grew up with OTR, and am also a avid reader and I wonder if this isn't
linked?
OTR, often called "Theater of the Mind" is just that. While the actors,
sound effect guys, and the background music try to weave a story, it's
up to you to picture it in your mind.
But isn't this true of a novel, as really they're just words on paper,
you have to picture what's going on to really enjoy the book.

Okay, somewhere out there [and that includes my own garage] is a
smallish box with hand tools that I have sent around the country to
those getting hand surgeries. What I need to know before I tear the
garage apart looking, does anyone remember if it is here with me or
waiting with the last person that had it.
John is getting shoulder surgery next Friday and will be left handed for
the first time in his life for several weeks. I have a feeling that I
have it here but after the second move in so many years, I would rather
not look for it if someone knows where it is.
