Why? Because there may be life there? Are we banking our entire future in
space on the hope of finding life on a planet that is almost certainly
entirely barren? Is that the best reason we can give? Am I using too many
question marks???

Following on from earlier rants: we need to stop justifying space travel on
the basis of fringe benefits like- "we may find life" (we probably won't),
"exploring other planets will help us understand Global Warming" (yeah,
right), or "it helps us invent exciting new products like Teflon" (whooo).

We're going because it's *there*, that's why. Fuck the microbes.

Cool! But we'll have to wait and see.
NASA has cried wolf before, and met with (founded) skepticism.

The Space Shuttles need to be scrapped ASAP, as in they shouldn't even launch another one. Those things are a marvel of shitty, overcomplicated design and do nothing well or cheaply as extolled when they sold these pigs to us. Are we just doing a daredevil show now waiting for the next one to a'splode?

Yet there are still scientists unwilling to accept the evidence, who are talking about land slides and flowing liquid CO2. It's water, for freakin' sake!

You can never use to many question marks though you can use too many
umlauts. I can picture a breakfast place in West LA for the heavy metal
crowd call "Ömëlëts" for example.
