Why I loved Star Trek

Hope. That one day we could overcome stupid, petty hate. That reason and
logic could overcome fear. Today we have never been so far from such a
glorious future. We have advanced technologically farther in the past 100
years than we have in the past 50,000 years. In terms of humanity we have
regressed just as much. Never before have we used nuclear waste as amunition
against the worlds poor. The most powerful nation on Earth uses fear as a
weapon. Please research Depleted Uranium, research Directive 51. President
Kennedy told us to do things that were hard, not what was easy. To go to the
moon. We went to the moon. Let us now do things that are hard. Choose peace!
Fight against the New World Order. I want our children to soar among the
stars, not waste away in a nuclear hell on earth...

Jim Kirk threatened (apparently no bluff) to destroy an entire civilisation
just because its leader threatened his ship (A Taste Of Armaggedon).

Discuss.

What do you think we have been doing the last six years! If you think
humans are bad now. Try reading up on history for the last 2000+ years. You
have apparently been watching too many Next Generation reruns. Humans will
be humans. Only the Apocalypse will fix that. And Iran will help that
along.

It's not like President Stillson, excuse me Bush, doesn't like to diddle
the nuclear button when when he is alone.

Bush frightens me.

He's not even a teeny bit as scary as sharia law.

Is it really all that bad now Barbi? We made some really good changes in
the 60's. The younger gen will do the same.

The 60's mark the decline of the American republic, the days when "the last
best hope of mankind" went into the dumper ..
