The guy looks nothing like Doohan and is best known for broad
comedies. What illegal substances was Abrams on when he made this
inspired choice?

I have a nasty feeling we're going to get a "Scotty pastiche" with a
deliberately flaky scottish accent. He doesn't seem a natural choice to play
Scotty straight.

Uh-oh.

Time travel stories are a complete waste of time ... literally. They
used by lazy ass writers who can't come up with a decent story that
fits with everything else, so they make up any old garbage and then
simply push the big "reset button" at the end. :-(

He doesn't have to look like Doohan because this is a stupid "reboot"
movie. :-(

They can either reboot it, or Trek is over. Forever. Take your choice.

Have you seen either Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz? Pegg is a good
actor.

SotD, yes. I thought it was funny in an Evil Dead / Buffy sort of way,
but I don't recall any great acting in it. I fear we're going to have
the "Star Trek V" Scotty again, knocking himself out after banging his
head against overhead GNDN pipes. (sigh.)
