I know *I* am!

I'm crossposting this to Trek and Smallville because both are two of my
favorite shows/genres... I've been a Trek fan since the original airings of
the original series and my earliest memories are of George Reeves flying
across a monotone skyline, so my Superman connection is even stronger.

The argument can and will go on and on concerning why someone would watch
every moment of every episode of a show they so obviously hate, but that's
not the purpose here... like the subject line states, I'm just tired of
being gigged over enjoying what I enjoy! I'm essentially a very happy
individual who greatly enjoys his entertainment and I find Trek in all its
incarnations (okay, not DS9 so much, but still...) and Smallville something
to look forward to.

Canon? Hmmm... not really something anyone can agree on. Even Roddenberry
couldn't keep it straight. Seems in Trek, only that which has made it to the
screen "really" happened... except for anything he decided he didn't like
even after signing off on it. Nothing written ever "really" happened. Its
just the opposite in the Superman mythos... only the things appearing in the
comics "really" happened, while anything filmed was just an interpretation.

The problem is... its all fiction! NONE of it ever REALLY happened (or, in
the case of Trek, WILL really happen)!

I'm MORE than happy to see what the new Trek film will show me and what
Shatner's new Academy books will divulge. In Smallville, I'm always looking
forward to seeing what holes are being filled into the new Byrne-ian history
(since he pretty much did away with everything I grew up with).

I'm the guy who never walked out of a movie, determined to find SOMETHING of
worth since I paid so much to be there! I'm the guy who doesn't believe
popular fiction to be so sacred that it can't be improved upon. I'm a
diehard TOS fanatic, but not to the point of summarily dismissing the
upcoming film before seeing it! And, since Byrne did away with the whole
Superboy storyline, there's a lot about young Clark Kent that we've been
waiting decades to learn!

Its too late to make a long story short, and I realize that newsgroups are
the harbor for haters, but I wanted to get in one vote for the enjoyment and
appreciation for those who are trying their best to both entertain and
enlighten us, the fans who truely love the characters and relationships in
both Trek and Superman...

... just as I realize I'm gonna get flamed for being happy anyway.....
