I thought it was a fairly enjoyable episode, but lacked the action of
the last couple shows. This one had a lot of slow, dialog-filled,
space. The best part was easily the inclusion of George Takei.
Overall, I'd give it a 7/10.

Bringing up the character of DeSalle, what does everyone think of the
character? He did appear a few times in a minor way in TOS, but he's been
given a much larger role to fill in NV, especially before and just as Sulu
reappeared in the show.
Interested to know...

Old Sulu doesn't remember the coordinates, which is why
they need to recompile young Sulu, the data is only 30
seconds old in his mind rather than 30 years. Once a Sulu
back who remembers the data I suppose he could have just
stood there and fed the numbers to any number of other
people who can man the helm, but why would they do that
if he knows how to do it himself?
If you're determined not to like it, you can probably pick
holes for days. I could probably do that to half the
episodes in TOS and I *liked* TOS. But it hardly seems
worth the effort to watch just to nitpick. Maybe you should
just not watch fanfilms anymore and stick to professional
productions like Voyager and Enterprise.

Again though, the old TRANSPORTER SAVE THE DAY shtick which I thought we all
agreed was one of the more unconscionable deus ex machina of Trek.
