I wonder how they are going to explain all those retro CRTs? Maybe
say that LCDs won't work due to the effects of warp drive?

How did they explain them in the TOS movies?
IIRC, they just didn't.

It's ironic that the most "advanced" looking
visual displays in Trek were the ones created
in TOS with the most primitive film equipment.
No video flicker, no grain or out-of-focus issues,
not even glare on the screen surfaces.

When "The Cage" pilot was filmed, Roddenberry's original idea was to
implement the bridge information displays with slide projectors. It
looked pretty impressive for its time, with the crew standing there
watching the "readouts." Most of that was eliminated for the TV series
because it required too many human operators to control everything with
the electronics they had in the mid 1960s.

The other problem was that it made for a rather dark bridge,
which we saw again in TMP when they used film projectors.
This conflicted with the needs of filming for color TV, not to
mention the creative idea behind most of TOS design, which
was that space travel had advanced to the point where it they
had the luxury of doing in relative comfort and was not like
being crammed into a tin can in space.

A case of not being able to overcome viewer expectation.
As with the "whoosh" sound of a starship passing the
camera needed for viewers to experience a feeling of
speed and movement, a viewer accustomed to seeing
the cramped, dark interior of a contemporary naval vessel
on film or in print would expect a vessel not being played
as a luxury liner to be just as cramped and dark in oredr
to perceive "realism," even if there was no reason why a
starship control room 200+ years in the future couldn't
be designed to look like a "hotel lobby."
