Spectre of the Gun, Arena

Author: Richard Fangnail

Have you noticed that Spectre of the Gun has the same ending as Arena
- in both cases, Kirk is forced to fight someone, and he wins yet
refuses to kill his opponent. Then the Metrons/Melkots are convinced
that humanity is good.

You could even say Savage Curtain ends the same way except that Kirk
goes ahead and kills Col. Green. That might be justified from the
fact that he wasn't really Col. Green, but then neither was that
cowboy.

Please compare and contrast.

They go over and critique each episode the following week.

Remember. The third season they cut back on the *budget* for some of the
episodes. Which is why they reused plots from previous shows.
