I think he is joking!

My take is that you can do what you like with a film about a comic.
Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have been going for about sixty years,
and have had many incarnations. A film maker can do whatever he likes.

Battlestar Galactica is slightly different, because the first series was
so long ago that all the actors would be quite aged, and (sorry) it
wasn't all that good.

No, he wanted to do something else, but no one wanted to pick it up.

Bryan Singer left BSG to do X2 and so Ron took the job. And then had
to be forced to do all the above things because the weren't part of his
original idea.
