J.J. Abrams has never been too swift on technical details.

Judging by the TV show "Lost," he couldn't correctly answer the question
"What happens to an airliner that comes apart in midair at altitude?"
either.

Or the question "What happens to a jet engine that is severed from the
wing of the plane?"

But Abrams has never let technical inaccuracy get in the way of a good
story.
