I can't imagine pitching a game stoned on acid. That's gotta be the
hands-down no-arguments best LSD story ever.
I wonder if video of it is anywhere. I can't believe he didn't giggle at all
during the game. Or that no-one in the dugout picked up on something while
the Pirates were batting.

I spent a fair bit of time being high on acid in my younger days, and I
totally agree with you. Pitching a game of baseball (nevermind a
no-hitter, which has to have been the flukiest event in the history of
sports), while high on acid would have to rank up there with the very
craziest of Hunter S. Thompson experiences.

I imagined that he must have been in some kind of super "zone" where he was
at one with the ball and the field and I suppose he must have been to some
degree but to hear him tell it he was just warped out of shape, couldn't
catch the ball, it sometimes looked like a beach ball sometimes like a pea,
hilarious!
