There is no "story"... yet

I decided to make a new post of this reply in another thread because I
believe it sums up the situation:
====

I would agree with that ("Someone needs to get a handle on this story.")
But in a way, I think "they" have. There is no story. The only "fact(s)"
I've gleaned from all the reports, is this:

The Steelers have 3 Finalists on their list. If the Bears lose today (in
the NFCCG) then they will attempt to immediately (asap that is) get a second
interview with Rivera. However, it sounds like, if the Bears win today, the
Steelers are prepared to go ahead and choose between their "two birds in the
hand" - Grimm or Tomlin.

It seems like there's sentiment for and against either Grimm or Tomlin, and
the Steelers apparently have talked amongst themselves about the good points
of each. It appears some people, either legit parties to the conversations
or just eavesdroppers, overheard some talk about either or both and maybe
made a guess which way it was going based on that. As another poster has
said in a different post, all bets not including Rivera have a 50-50 chance
of being right and lots of people have a stake in being the first to break
the "story," either as insiders or reporters.
