It's hard to compare the two. The spit in the face came in the heat of the
game and was directed at an opposing player during the game. Porter's
comments came after the game in the face of the media. And while he was
directing them at one player (after the game), he was insulting a whole
group of people and reflecting badly not only on himself and his team, but
was embarrassing the NFL too, hence the fine. Winslow was also fined $5k
for the late hit on Farrior, which he should have been.
