I'd sure like to wrestle Kate "The Brawler" Lawler! She and one of her
gal pals are hanging around topless on the beach:

  Shawn Andrews's Happy Place

Andy Reid indicated that Shawn has found his happy place. Obviously Max's
penalty-marred performance has rushed his therapy.

  roster deadlines approaching

Author: Adam Frankel
Date: Aug 16, 2008 10:28

The first roster deadline arrives after the Patriots game. I think Reid has
to cut 5 players therefore Reid will likely cut 5 guys that nobody ever
heard of. The following week, Reid will have to cut 22 players and there
will certainly be some surprises.

The RB position is unsettled. Westbrook, Booker and Buckhalter are secure,
and Moats is almost certainly released. Hunt is hoping that Reid keeps 4
RBs, and the FB position has not been determined.

The WR position must have a casualty to make room for DeSean. Greg Lewis
might have solidified the #5 spot for the umpteenth consecutive year, by
virtue of the fact that nobody else can catch. Avant is the most likely
casualty, although Baskett is on the bubble, too.

The OL position should be interesting. Reid drafted 3 rookie OL despite all
those picks the past few years; Winston Justice, Scott Young, Max
Jean-Gilles were the reserves last season.

The DL might have some surprises. McDougle has had 2 great preseason
performances, and Howard might get released. The drafting of Laws and Smith
requires 2 subtractions.

The LB competition is fierce with 2 draft picks in the mix; both of them are
playing well in preseason.

  Just in from the Linc....

Kolb 17, McNabb 0.

Sure there were positives, though mostly from 2nd and 3rd teamers.
Dawk had a great hit to turn a TD into a FG. There were good
performances from DJax, GLew, Kolb, Hunt, and Justin Roland (2
turnovers leading to 10 points). But despite the great 4th quarter by
the scrubs, and the crazy weather, and the eventual win, overall this
game was a grave disappointment.

Once again, the first team O moved the ball (sort of), but could not
score, despite starting several times with great field position. Once
again, DMac overthrew wide open receivers. Once again, we saw only a
mediocre and lightly-used running game from the starters. Maybe WB
was just being careful, but we saw nothing special from Booker - or
the Iggs' answer for a "big" receiver, Baskett. Once again, we saw
the other team gash our starting D on the ground for 4-5 yards a pop.
