Do any of you use one? If so, can you give me some recommendations? My
computer is running mighty slow these days...kinda like its owner. I'm
wondering if that would hel
--with the computer half of the problem,
anyway.

GO get Spybot Search and Destroy, an open source registry cleaner/
spyware/adware remover. I have my computer set to run it at 9 am
every day and it keeps my computer running smooth. Adaware SE is also
another good free one. I would also recommend getting ZoneAlarm, a
free firewall. It will block out most spyware itself while Spybot
cleans the computer. Hope this helps.

The older version of Regcleaner. It's free and it's great. Been using it
for years.

I don't know if you can use it on Vista. Kinda doubt it. I still run XP
because Vista is a hardware hog. Slooooow.

Actually, the registry can slow a computer down. It's stored in active
memory and can bloat to triple the necessary size. All the unlinked entries
can screw up some system processes too.

The autostart info is in the registry too. If you strip out all the
uncessary shit that every program likes to dump in there, your computer will
purr.My RAM usage at startup is 95 megs and startup take 15 seconds from
when I turn it on.

I also go the extra distance and disable unnecessary system services in the
MMC. This is a tricky feat though ... disable the wrong service and the
operating system goes to shit.

Hell NO I don't understand permissions! Just ask Izzy. ;)

Not to mention the lazy and undisciplined. Y'all's crazy if you think
I'm gonna start marching across the fields carrying you on my back
while you yell computer secrets in my ear.
