If the Blazers are smart they will trade Oden to any team that
acquires the #1 pick in the 2008 draft. It is a virtual certainty Oden
will be plagued by major injuries throughout his career. Oden is a
quality individual but he is biologically snake-bit. The handwriting
is on the wall. The Blazers need to face reality and cut their losses
with Oden. If the Blazers draft Beasley they will have a solid
foundation for multiple NBA championships over the next 10 years. A
lineup of Roy - Aldridge - Beasley will be a valid reason for Blazers
fans to rejoice.

It's a "virtual certainty" that a broken wrist and MF (which in all
probability, he didn't really need) is a virtual certainty?

So if this graffiti on the wall you have been pounding your head against
is a 'virtual certainty' why would the team with the #1 pick trade for
Oden?
And if the other team would jump on getting Oden as is more likely, then it
shows how dumb your notion is...
your choice...

The Blazers need to shop Oden to the team with the top draft choice in
the hope that their general manager is stupid enough to make the
trade. Never underestimate the idiocy of some NBA teams. Believe it or
not, an NBA franchise once made the imbecilic decision to draft Sam
Bowie instead of Michael Jordan.

A choice that only looks bad in hindsight. Just in case you really don't
know, Portland had a young, talented guy named Drexler at the time & Bowie
was touted as the big man we needed in the middle. Although it's seldom
mentioned, Akeem, later to be known as Hakeem, also was picked ahead of
Jordan & while he enjoyed an All-Star career himself, it's hard to imagine
Houston would not have won more than 2 NBA titles with MJ instead.

Show me somebody who thinks Oden will be a better NBA player than
Michael Beasley; and I will show you somebody who knows nothing about
basketball.

I have heard a lot more stupid trade ideas from fans than all the actual
stupid trades in history
Dominant franchise centers only come along once a decade. All picks are crap
shoots...

Now you not only have a crystal ball but perfect hindsight...amazing...

Wow, I forgot about Ewing. Just think if he'd come out & we'd picked him.
That would have been a helluva team...

Apples & oranges, umo. Beasley will almost certainly be an All-Star level
player in the NBA, but at 6'9" or 6'10" he is going to be a great forward
rather than a defensive stopper in the paint. Think Carmelo or McGrady;
certainly a top-tier talent, but not a game changing center like Oden.
I'm more than happy to stick with Oden & let his presence in the middle be
the signature of the Blazers for the next 8-10 years. You can enjoy
Beasley, if you get him.
Go Blazers !
