I agree that Flip does those things when he's not playing well. When
he's playing well, he can be a very effective scorer coming off a
bench that doesn't have much by way of effective scorers. Lindsey's
BB IQ may be higher -- I wouldn't honestly dispute that -- but Lindsey
can't score like Flip can. Maybe with Hayes and Maxiell being legit
offensive threats, Detroit doesn't need some scorer, any scorer, off
the bench. But I think Flip can be useful.
Whether you agree with that or not, however, Flip Saunders is going to
have some decisions to make about what the "regular rotation" of
guards is going to be, especially after Stuckey gets back. It's
unlikely that more than two guards coming off the bench will get
decent minutes on a regular basis. So two of these four
-- Flip M.,
Lindsey, Afflalo, and Stuckey -- will probably not get much time at
