Who would have thought, a couple of weeks ago, that both Detroit and
Boston would go 5-5 in their next 10 games?
Guess it really is a long season. Still think these are going to be
the last two teams standing in the ECF (barring a major injury or
two). Yeah, the Cavs are playing better now, and yeah, Orlando now
has wins against both the Pistons and the Celtics, but I'm still
picking Detroit and Boston.
The rest of the East is pathetically weak, with only Toronto and the
Wizards, among the "others" being even semi-respectable. -- Joe

Just go play the 76ers in Philly and all your ills will be cured! Good
job by the bench last night and Tayshaun finally found the basket as
well. Bad miss on that dunk by Stuckey but the put back dunk by Amir
was sweet. AA had a nice game as well. Tune up for the Magic on
Firday I hope.

The Detroit Pistons seemed the powerhouse in the East for most of the
season so far, but the tide is changing.
They've yet to beat the Bulls this season.
Split decison with the new Boston Celtics
They had a nine game winning streak over the Magic come to an end with a
loss the other night. That's got to do wonders for Orlando's confidence
and future play off hopes. They really WON this game. They held off a
concentrating almost desparate Piston cast down the stretch and even
entered their own heroics to close out before having to face an
overtime.
What's wrong? It can't be fatigue, not with the extensive bench they
have. It could be a mental break down where near mid-season guys start
thinking about all star break and a mini vacation.
At any rate after the break look for Washington, Orlando and the Bulls
to get focused. This race isn't just between two teams. The Heat might
be off, but hot is shall be!

Well, it came down to the wire, Chauncey made a great and long 3-
pointer to tie it, but Orlando gets the shot at the buzzer.
Not exactly a depressing game in and of itself -- a close loss on the
road to a good team. But a three game losing streak isn't so hot, and
if my math is right, they are under .500 in their last dozen games.
Let's face it, the bench is a problem. Maxiell continues to bring
energy, albeit not a lot of points. Jarvis Hayes is in at best a long
slump, Stuckey keeps making mistakes -- understandable, for a rookie,
but he keeps missing shots and turning the ball over. Afflalo's
minutes are way down, Amir Johnson, Flip Murray and Lindsey haven't
played in a long time, and Herman and Brezec still haven't shown they
are anything but garbage time fodder (with the exception of Hermann''s
nice defense in the Dallas game).
No need to panic yet, but I wonder if Joe D. is looking harder at
another move than he was a couple of weeks ago.--Joe

Want to make or wear impressive costume jewelry, but running on a
tight budget? Using semi-precious stones is one good way to achieve
this. These stones come in a wide variety and are highly accessible to
almost everyone. Semi-precious stones preserve the effect of
sophistication. Many pieces of jewelry made of these stones are
pleasant to look at without seeming opulent. Depending on one's own
taste and fashion sense, these gemstones have the greatest potential
to enhance one's personal sense of style.
Some semi-precious stones are also birthstones, which correspond to
people's birth months. Some people believe that wearing stones that
correspond with one's birth month increases one's inner strength. This
special trait makes jewelry made of certain semi-precious birthstones
especially useful as gifts. Examples of such birthstones are garnet
(January) and aquamarine (March).

Tough to lose at home against Sacremento, even though they got some of
their big guys back, especially having a lousy 4th quarter like that.
Although really, you could sum up this game in five words: our bench
scored five points.
I know that "developing the bench" means some peaks and valleys, but
I'm a little more worried than I was a few weeks ago. Hayes is
slumping, Stuckey isn't playing as well as Afflalo was. . . . -- Joe

The trade that brought Boston to the penthouse in the East and the
chants of greatness to come is hitting its first snafu.
After an impressive start and almost to mid season the mighty
remanufactured Celts have lost to a couple teams they should have
punished.
Piston team members haven't noticed Boston's dip. They can barely keep
an eye on the win lost records in the local papers seeing how tight
their own schedule has been.
Boston is feeling the pains of not having an adequate bench, that's
unlike Detroit who in the past two seasons have had help just wasn't
utilized. Doc would be elated if any members on the pine that could
contribute immediately before Garnett, Pierce and Allen blow a fuse.
Big Baby is coming along after having a coming out party and confidence
builder against Detroit recently others have yet to rise. Boston will
be good should they reach the promise land but they don't have enough
horses for the final stretch. Best they could do is win the Eastern
Conference and Detroit will max out their efforts leaving them no gas to
contend against the race horses of the West. Could be some more horse
tradin' before it's all set, that is if they are wise.
