The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Memphis center Pau Gasol, league
sources said Friday afternoon.

The Lakers will send center Kwame Brown and rookie point guard Javaris
Crittenton to Memphis in the trade, along with at least one future No.
1 pick.

It is possible the Lakers will re-sign free agent Aaron McKie to send
to Memphis to balance the contracts in the deal.

Gasol, a 7-footer, can play center for the Lakers until Andrew Bynum
returns from a knee injury sometime in March. Then, Gasol, who is
averaging 18.9 points and 8.8 rebounds, can slide over into the power
forward spot. His passing and shooting skills are ideal to operate in
the triangle offense. This move pushes the Lakers into championship
contention.

I question how effective a specific big man coach is. It wasn't like
we had awesome big-man play with Cartwright. Chandler and Curry were
just lazy while they were here so its hard to see how a position coach
would've addressed that.

I recall Dallas having nearly as many coaches as players a few years
back.

Noah had a nice game against MN tonight. I haven't been following the
team closely but it seems like every time I check a box score he's
done something well. Noah, Deng, Noce
-- is this next year's
frontcourt?

They make a move on the next coach. As I looked at this string of
games that began with GS and ended with a b2b with the T-Wolves I
thought they'd probably hope to come outta that at least 5-3 and start
to think about some momentum for the playoffs. That aint happenin'
obviously and I don't see any big trades on the horizon either. Its
looking like lottery+coach time.
