Rehab was unsuccessful, he needs surgery to repair the compression
fracture in his knee. He'll be out 5-6 months in rehabilitation.

I'd make the obvious jokes about the team's medical department, but
it's not even funny anymore.

Of course, he was still double switched out after smoking a ground
rule double in extras.

It still amazes me how often they pull out the best guy in our lineup
tto end a game on one swing.

The Mrs. and I went on a mini and belated honeymoon in Las Vegas for a
few days at the end of last week. Our former manager, the all-time hits
leader, was signing autographs at a memorabilia shop in the Forum Shops
at Caesar's Palace. Seemed somehow fitting, really.

To my surprise, the line was actually pretty short and if I'd been so
inclined, I could have walked up (paid my money down, I'm sure) and had
him sign something for me. I have his autograph from sometime in the
'80s when he was back with the Reds, though, and had no real desire to
see him again, I guess.

If it had been Frank Robinson or Barry Larkin (whom my wife has had a
crush on) I suspect that I would have had much more interest and that
the lines might have made me change my mind.

No Big Point to this post, really.
