Far from a super horse? With 3 starts under him going into the
Kentucky Derby, and being in post 20, he beat ALL the odds to win that
race. He probably ran an extra half mile being as far on the outside
as he was, he had the longest trip. He is the best chance we've had
in awhile for a Triple Crown winner and if he is a "Clydesdale" then
tell me why EVERY SINGLE HORSE that faced him in the Derby is NOT
going on to the Preakness?? EVERY SINGLE OPPONENT is skipping the
Preakness. Be realistic. Curlin, that fantastic horse that won by
nearly 8 lengths in the Dubai World Cup and was Horse of the Year last
year, couldn't even win the Kentucky Derby off of only 3 previous
starts.
Big Brown deserves all the hype he is getting. If he'd had a shorter
trip he could have come a *lot* closer to Secretariat's winning time
then he did.

Big Brown is undoubtedly the best speed horse among a field of
mediocre 3 year olds. A filly with two bum ankles outran a big field
of glue factory candidates to finish second in the Derby before
keeling over in the death throes of agony. If Big Brown wins the
Triple Crown will it be because he is great or because his competition
sucks? Time will tell. The smart money says there is a distance horse
at Belmont Park; waiting quietly & patiently to kick Big Brown's ass
at a mile and a half.

The Kentucky Derby could get bigger TV ratings than the Super Bowl if
they adopt a few elements of the ancient Roman coliseum. For example,
the winning horse should be allowed to drag the dead horse off the
track.

Abolish the whip in horse racing. Stop medicating horses before races.
Drugs mask pain during the race. Eight Belles would have pulled up a
lot sooner if she had felt pain in her legs. The drugs in her system
made her unaware of her ankle injury until the damage that caused her
death had already been done,.
