Kentucky Derby tragedy

The impressive victory of Big Brown in the Derby was completely
overshadowed by the horrific, shocking and tragic death of Eight
Belles. This is the worst disaster in the entire 133 year history of
the Kentucky Derby.

if you have watched horseracing as long as i have or like danzig has,
its a sad part of the game, but it happens all the time, including
wednesdays 10,000 claimer as well..

Not quite on the level of Owen taking a header in KC, eh Max?

I think Big Brown liked being wide out of the gate and clear of the other
horses. Then he pulled over to them on his own terms with an angle on the
first turn. And the ground he gave up being wide was little cost compared to
a situation of being pushed close to the rail which upsets the delicate
stride of a horse that tries to make ground early. It was surprising how
strong he came on early on the final turn like maybe he could have been held
even at that point. Then coming down the stretch in the lead he was working
very hard but with the entire race measured well enough.

After the race he was stomping and snorting victory with all the
understanding and involvement that any human athlete would have. He then
threw the jocky. And KD's ride was similar to a ride on 4 y.o. Private Terms
in Boston where the horse was wide but clear all the way around. The ride on
Big Brown was smooth early and hard late. Conserve energy early and no worry
about giving up ground...

Let's not get too carried away with the Big Brown hype . He is a nice
horse but far from a super horse. Compared to Secretariat's winning
Derby time of 1:59.40... Big Brown is a Clydesdale.

I don't know if anyone is comparing him to Secretariat but Christ,
give the horse some credit....he hasn't lost and hasn't come close to
losing. Secretariat did get beat you know....4 times to be exact and 1
by DQ.......And his time of 2:01 and change is excellent
time.......this is a damn good racehorse.

I said that he conserved energy early, relatively avoided traffic, and
worked very hard late. I said that the jockey rode him correctly enough. I
did say that his move on the final turn was early and hard...and meant that
to be understood as giving up lengths at the wire.

"It's a sad part of the game!" You fucking idiot. What kind of game
is it that forces animals to run their hearts out and kill themselves
so we can wager on the outcome? Just another example of what
nonsense horse racing is. Stupid fucking assholes go to the track
and throw away their money on a jerkoff activity. I mean, you cannot
even win in the long run, no matter how well you research the field.
The house takes too big a cut of the pie, you moronic simpletons.
