Most racist Democrats were the Dixiecrats and remained so.
Percentage-wise more Democrats than Republicans opposed the 1964 Civil
Rights Acts. Democrats also opposed the Voting Rights Act and if
wanted to go deeper in history, it was Democrats that opposed
anti-lynching laws. And let's not forget Jim Crow Laws were the
handiwork Democrats and the KKK was founded by Democrats.
Don't forget it Southern Democratic governors that fought
desegregation.
