CHICAGO -- Teens whose iPods are full of music with raunchy, sexual
lyrics start having sex sooner than those who prefer other songs, a
study found.

Whether it's hip-hop, rap, pop or rock, much of popular music aimed at
teens contains sexual overtones. Its influence on their behavior
appears to depend on how the sex is portrayed, researchers found.

Teens who said they listened to lots of music with degrading sexual
messages were almost twice as likely to start having intercourse or
other sexual activities within the following two years as were teens
who listened to little or no sexually degrading music.

Among heavy listeners, 51 percent started having sex within two years,
versus 29 percent of those who said they listened to little or no
sexually degrading music.

Fallacy of the non-sequitor.

All the study does is link "raunchy" lyrics with earlier sexual experience.
There is absolutely nothing at all that demonstrates a causal effect.

Or maybe the two things have nothing at all to do with each other.

Yeah, uh huh. That's why there wasn't any sex before rock and roll right?

Could you please provide your definition of "true music"?

Actual study, although I question whether the authors have committed a
cart before the horse fallacy. Are kids more likely to have sex from
listening to nasty lyrics, or are they more likely to enjoy...

And yet kids raised as nudists do *not* start having sex sooner. Go
figure!

The actions of the disgraceful Clinton and Bush administrations
make it possible for me to say without shame that I deeply regret
the day I put the uniform of my country. The freedoms that I was
willing to protect with my life are being lost. The America of
our founders is dead. All we are waiting for now is rigor mortis.

The first increases a kid's curiousity. The second most likely works to
eliminate the curiousity.
