  Bush, $4 gallon- Clinton, $1.47

Author: GLOBAL CHICO
Date: May 25, 2008 23:48

When George Bush took office in 2001, a gallon of gas cost just $1.47. Now
it costs $3.80 per gallon -- up more than 150 percent!

During that same time, oil company profits more than quadrupled, from $30
billion in 2002 to more than $120 billion last year.

This is no coincidence. The oil and gas industries have contributed more
than $4.5 million to George Bush and millions of dollars to his supporters
in Congress, like House Minority Leader John Boehner, Senate Minority Leader
Mitch McConnell, and many more.

You can make sure that doesn't happen. Send an email right now to Freedom's
Watch, and tell them you know they're full of shit:

While President Bush and his backers in Congress have focused on doling out
billions to their oil industry cronies, the new Congressional leadership has
worked hard on real energy reforms.

So far, the new House and Senate majorities have passed legislation rolling
back $14 billion in oil industry tax breaks, raising automobile gas mileage
standards, increasing investment in renewable energy, and temporarily
suspending the flow of oil into the strategic petroleum reserve to bring
fast gas price relief.

METHODIST MINISTERS LAUNCH PR CAMPAIGN TO STOP BUSH LIBRARY AT SMU:

Earlier this month, at the United Methodist Church's (UMC) Quadrennial
General Conference, the UMCs governing body voted overwhelmingly -- 844 to
20 -- to refer a petition to its South Central Jurisdiction urging it to
reject President Bush's presidential library, which is housed at Southern
Methodist University in Dallas.

The library has received significant criticism because of an attached
institute -- independent of the university) that will sponsor programs
designed to "promote the vision of the president" and "celebrate" Bush's
presidency.

The South Central Jurisdiction, which owns the university property where the
library will be built, is set to vote on the petition this July. But some
Methodist ministers are launching a public relations campaign ahead of the
vote with the goal of "informing people about the partisan think tank" and
Bush administration polices, such as the Iraq war and torture of military
prisoners, "that some Methodists feel conflict with church teachings."

  3 percent: Bush's approval rating

3 percent: President Bush's approval rating in a new Reuters/Zogby poll,
which is down four percentage points and is "a record low."

Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) suggested impeaching President Bush if he attacks
Iran. "You've got the power of impeachment, now that is a very defined
measure if you are willing to bring charges against the president at all,"
said Hagel. Attacking Iran without Congress's consent "would bring with
it...outstanding political consequences." Hagel also raised impeachment in
March 2007.

Little late for 1,000,000+ innocent people.

  MASS MURDER IN 21st Century

"Iraq did not have the weapons that our intelligence believed were there."
-- President Bush, 10/6/04
http://app.mx3.americanprogressaction.org/e/er.aspx?s=785&lid=5342&elq=3A7CE435E...

Why did Bush conspire to commit mass murder of innocent people who did
nothing to America?

This has been the most inept administration in the history of our country.
Either that or it was their goal all along to collapse the dollar, balloon
the deficit, break the army and trash our leadership, image and moral high
ground in the world.

In a full scale transfer from taxpayers (our treasury) to corporations and
cronies, what we are witnessing is no less than a heist. It's no coincidence
that the very industries CheneyBu$hCo emerged from are the very ones who are
reaping the windfall of a bogus war based on lies, cherry picked
intelligence and fear mongering.

Divided They Stand

By PAUL KRUGMAN
Published: May 26, 2008

It is, in a way, almost appropriate that the final days of the
struggle for the Democratic nomination have been marked by yet another
fake Clinton scandal — the latest in a long line that goes all the way
back to Whitewater.

This one, in case you missed it, involved an interview Hillary Clinton
gave the editorial board of South DakotaÂ’s Argus Leader, in which she
tried to make a case for her continuing campaign by pointing out that
nomination fights have often gone on into the summer. As one of her
illustrations, she mentioned that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in
June.

It wasnÂ’t the best example to use, but itÂ’s absurd to suggest, as some
Obama supporters immediately did, that Mrs. Clinton was making some
kind of dark hint about Barack ObamaÂ’s future.

Dear Lord, I know how much you love America and the American GIs who

Amen.

“You want to wear this or this for therapy tomorrow?” Sgt. Shurvon
PhillipÂ’s mother asked, holding two shirts in front of him. On one
wall of his bedroom hung a poster of a marine staring fiercely,
assault rifle in hand and black paint beneath his narrow eyes.
ShurvonÂ’s eyes, meanwhile, are wide and soft brown. He sat upright,
supported by the tilt of a hospital bed. He cannot speak and can
barely emit sound or move any part of his body, and sometimes itÂ’s as
if the striking size of his eyes is a desperate attempt to let others
understand who he is, to let them see inside his mind, because his
brain can carry out so little in the way of communication.

WASHINGTON — Until the day he died, Sgt. Brian Rand believed he was
being haunted by the ghost of the Iraqi man he killed.

The ghost choked Rand while he slept in his bunk, forcing him to wake
up gasping for air and clawing at his throat.

He whispered that Rand was a vampire and looked on as the soldier
stabbed another member of Fort Campbell's 96th Aviation Support
Battalion in the neck with a fork in the mess hall.

Eventually, the ghost told Rand he needed to kill himself.

Karl Rove Stammers Through Siegelman Defense
I will never understand why Karl Rove is considered a political genius. A
"dirty tricks master"? Absolutely. An amoral partisan hack? Indubitably. But
genius? Nuh uh. He managed to pull out all the stops to illegitimately place
his candidate in office and then consistently played the American public for
sheep by repeating talking points over and over until they became
conventional wisdom, but that's no more than what P.T. Barnum did, just on a
national scale. Mercifully, I think we're collectively wising up on Rove's
antics and they're coming back to haunt him. On This Week, host George
Stephanopoulos asks him about the subpoenas hanging over his head and he can
only stammer the same talking point over and over: he heard about the
prosecution...
