Petraeus Quote- Most Revealing of Entire War

Is Petraeus Quote the Most Revealing of Entire War?
In 2003, Gen. David Petraeus, then little-known, asked Rick Atkinson of The
Washington Post in Iraq: "Tell me how this ends." It soon became his
"mantra." But as his testimony this week in Washington showed, he still does
not know the answer.

By Greg Mitchell

NEW YORK (April 09, 2008) -- What will end up being the most famous quote of
the Iraq war? Remember, President Bush did not actually say "Mission
Accomplished." Perhaps Vice President Cheney's "final throes" will take the
prize. But increasingly, as the significance of Gen. David Petraeus grows
(seemingly by the minute), it seems possible that it might end up being his
once-obscure 2003 remark to a well-known newspaper reporter: "Tell me how
this ends." It was cited again on Tuesday by Andrew Bacevich in his New York
Times Op-Ed contribution.

Petraeus said that line when he was a Major General directing the 101st
Airborne during the U.S. invasion but, for some, his testimony today before
Congress suggested that he still did not have an answer to it.

What is the point of hate laws?

Author: ‹ŽGoyfire Radio‹ WE...are the Good Guys

In the UK, 7000 citizens signed their name to a petition to expand
hate crime laws. They want the laws to punish anyone who commits
violence because someone looks different. The petition responds to the
murder of a young Goth-dressing woman and her boyfriend in a park.

The assailants didn't know the girl. Presumably they attacked her
because she was wearing black lipstick. That's how the argument goes.
The thuggish kids who attacked her should get tripled penalties
because their violence was motivated by her weird looks.

So, it would have been less heinous had she been an upper class,
pearls-wearing babe attacked because she looked rich? What if she'd
been a gorgeous blonde cheerleader and they attacked her because they
weren't getting any? What about robbing someone of an Ipod or
scratching a Porsche because "They can afford it". The list goes on
forever.

Sadr says US will always be enemy

Radical Iraqi Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr has said the US will always be
his enemy "till the last drop of blood".

Mr Sadr was responding to a statement by US Defence Secretary Robert
Gates, who said that all those within the political process were not
enemies.

"I have no enemy but you. You are the occupier," Mr Sadr's statement
said.

Iraqi forces have been clashing with militias such as Mr Sadr's Medhi
Army since last month. The US said 13 gunmen were killed in Baghdad on
Saturday.

The latest fighting was in Baghdad's eastern Sadr City suburb, a
stronghold of supporters of Moqtada Sadr.

On Friday, Riyad al-Nuri, a relative and key aide of the cleric, was
killed by gunmen in the city of Najaf
