Clinton's April Fools joke

As April Fools Joke, Clinton Challenges Obama to Bowl-Off

BETH FOUHY
AP News

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton walked somberly into a press
conference Tuesday and stood before microphones. Reporters tensed,
sensing something big might be afoot.

"This has been a very hard fought race," she said. "We clearly need to
do something so that our party and our people can make the right
decision. So, I have a proposal."

The tension grew. Reporters shifted in their seats. Was she dropping
out of the race? Offering to join rival Barack Obama as his running
mate?

April Fools!

"Today, I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off," Clinton said,
provoking relieved laughs from the assembled scribes.

IMF predicts US recession: report
AFP
Published: Tuesday April 1, 2008

The International Monetary Fund will next week forecast that the US
economy will go into recession this year, a German newspaper reported
Tuesday, citing a report to be released next week.

The US economy will experience at least two successive quarters of
negative growth -- the technical definition of a recession -- and will
grow only half a percent over the whole of 2008, weekly Die Zeit
reported.

Previously the IMF, which will release the report at its spring
meeting together with the World Bank next week, had forecast US growth
this year of around 1.5 percent, the newspaper said.

The IMF will also lower its forecast for world growth from the current
4.1 percent, Die Zeit said.

'Crisis' High School Graduation Gap Found Between Cities, Suburbs

The likelihood that a ninth-grader in one of the nation's biggest
cities will clutch a diploma four years later amounts to a coin toss
--
not much better than a 50-50 chance, new research finds. Cross into
the suburbs, and the odds improve dramatically.

  McCain's Nickname in Hanoi: "Songbird".

If fox didn't use made up news or opinion's they wouldn't have anything to
air for like half the day. So really they just do it out of necessity.
Otherwise fox would be about 12 hrs of bad news reporting and 12 hrs of
infomercials.

Don't you love Fox's boner commercials and beaver shots?

It is an ideological thing Re: Ed Koch not convinced by Obama!

Author: lo yeeOn
Date: Apr 1, 2008 17:04

Ed Koch allegedly asked:

What is it that I and others expected Obama to do? A great leader
with conscience and courage would have stood up and faced down
anyone who engages in such conduct. I expect a president of the
United States to have the strength of character to denounce and
disown enemies of America ?^@^T foreign and domestic ?

Two things are in order.

1) Did any of our congresspeople and senators stand up and ``face down
to George Bush ``during any of his State-Of-The-Union Speeches and
denounce his repeated, barbarous air strikes against Iraqi civilians,
despite their deep discontentment with his conduct, that includes also
his massive lies?

And how often do we actually see in our daily life anybody stand up,
denounce a speaker, and openly argue with him in a formal assembly?

There is such a thing as common courtesy in a civilized society.

British researchers create human-animal hybrid embryo amid political
row

LONDON (AFP) - For the first time in Britain, researchers at Newcastle
University said Tuesday they had created human-animal hybrid embryos,
amid a political row over a disputed embryo research bill in
parliament.

According to the northern English university, the research, which was
first presented at a lecture in Tel Aviv on March 25, has yet to be
published or verified, with a spokesman for the university telling AFP
that the institution "wouldn't claim it to be final at all."

The revelation comes with British MPs engaged in a fierce battle over
the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, which allows the creation
of human-animal hybrid embryos for medical research.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown's governing Labour Party conceded in March
that its party lawmakers with moral or ethical objections would be
allowed to vote against parts of the proposed legislation when it
comes before parliament this year.
