One in 10 home loans is under water: Economy.com

NEW YORK (Reuters) - One-tenth of U.S. homeowners hold mortgages that are
larger than the worth of their homes, Moody's Economy.com said on Friday.
Nearly 8.8 million homeowners, or 10.3
http://www.reuters.com/article/bondsNews/idUSN2259847620080222

Sounds like a lot of people dramatically overpaid for thier homes. Perhaps a
little research was in order first.

Or they didn't put much down and their housing market declined in
value. Maybe the solution going forward should be to get rid of gov't
programs like FHA that let people get into homes for less than the
traditional 20 percent down, but that doesn't help the people who bought
normally-priced homes and didn't expect the value to *go down* within 5
years.

BREAKING: Newsweek Catches McCain In Lie

Newsweek is reporting that McCain testified in a deposition five years ago
that he personally spoke with the CEO of Paxson Communications regarding
Paxson's business before the FCC. This flatly contradicts McCain's denial
yesterday that he'd had any contact with Paxson or his representatives
regarding the matter. Here's the Newsweek link: http://www.newsweek.com /...

McCain flatly denied yesterday that he'd been asked to write a letter to the
FCC either by Paxson or his representatives. McCain's campaign continues
today to insist that McCain never spoke personally with Paxson or his
lobbyists regarding this matter. But here's McCain's own testimony in a
deposition in 2002:

Q: "Do you know were they got the information?"

McCain: "No. But I would add, I was contacted by Mr. Paxson on this issue."

Q: "You were?"

McCain: "Yes."

Q: "Can you tell us what you said and what he said about it?"

McCain crawls out of a window, and threatens the newsman filming him....he
then spouts off about the conservatives turning him into a 71 year old
sex-machine by sneaking Viagra into his oatmeal.

Then he says to his Stepford wife, "Vote with me bitch, cause I'll break
your fuckin' jaw if'n ya don't."

Yet another reason why Dallas is an embarassment.

Why is Islam so feared and derided today?
Ian Buckley - Shamireaders June 19, 2005

Pound's biographer Professor Hugh Kenner - with whom I had the honour
of corresponding shortly before his death - considered that without
its poets the world would have already have long since succumbed to
total exhaustion.

More practically, perhaps, we can view religion as playing a similar
valuable role in preserving traditional societies, and maintaining
higher values than the almighty dollar. But not all faiths have 'what
it takes' to resist the trend towards a world turned into a counting
house on top of a rubbish dump.

Indeed, both Judaism and the Protestant variant of Christianity are
implicated, more or less, in the rise of capitalism. Additionally,
traditionalist Catholics believe that their Church is now a shadow of
its former state, having virtually self-destructed after Vatican II.
While Eastern Orthodoxy and even Japanese Shinto play their honourable
part in resisting the rush towards a porno-trash non-culture, it is
pre-eminently Islam that is the biggest stumbling block in the way of
the New World Order.

GOP Congressman indicted for extortion, money laundering
Nick Juliano
Published: Friday February 22, 2008

[...and another bites the dust! This nasty little clown was ALSO
McCain's co-chair for the campaign in Arizona, and this comes hours
after it was revealed that McCain lied about his contacts with
Iseman's employers.]

Republican Rep. Rick Renzi has been indicted for extortion, wire
fraud, money laundering and other charges related to a land deal in
Arizona.

A 26-page federal indictment unsealed in Arizona accuses Renzi and two
former business partners of conspiring to promote the sale of land
that buyers could swap for property owned by the federal government.
The sale netted one of Renzi's former partners $4.5 million.

  Secret Service Wants OBAMA Shot

Author: Reichtard Destroyer

DALLAS -- Security details at Barack Obama's rally Wednesday stopped
screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the
Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.

The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and
laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said
they believed it was a lapse in security.

Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence, head of the Police Department's
homeland security and special operations divisions, said the order --
apparently made by the U.S. Secret Service -- was meant to speed up the long
lines outside and fill the arena's vacant seats before Obama came on.

"Sure," said Lawrence, when asked if he was concerned by the great number of
people who had gotten into the building without being checked. But, he
added, the turnout of more than 17,000 people seemed to be a "friendly
crowd."

The Secret Service did not return a call from the Star-Telegram seeking
comment.
