My Six Months On Right Wing Blogs.

I spent 6 months lurking on right wing blogs (RWB). From May 2006 to
November 2006, I read every post I could on ten blogs I visited. I
registered with each under one alternet identity, and in the six
months, only posted 73 comments. My goal was simply to observe. I
monitored opinions on major topics and reactions to them.

Luzhkov Says Gay Parade Is 'Satanic'

Mayor Yury Luzhkov on Monday denounced gay rights parades as "satanic"
and vowed that he would never allow such events to be held in the
city.

Speaking during a Russian Orthodox Church conference at the Kremlin,
Luzhkov said the city would reject any application to hold a gay pride
parade and crack down on anyone who chose to march in defiance of the
ban, just as it did in 2006.

"Last year, Moscow came under unprecedented pressure to sanction the
gay parade, which can be described in no other way than as a satanic
event," Luzhkov said in televised comments. "We did not let the parade
take place then, and we will not allow it in the future."

At last year's parade in May, marchers were overwhelmed by militant
Orthodox Christians and ultranationalists throwing smoke bombs. The
parade had been banned by Luzhkov, and more than 100 gay rights
activists and their opponents were arrested by police.

a flurry of naked anti-Catholic sentiments expressed last week by some
government Members and Cabinet Ministers in the "row" over the
government's decision to force Churches to adopt children to
homosexuals.

Anti-Catholic, anti-clerical and anti-papal slurs had been, until as
recently as fifty years ago, standard fare in Britain's political
discourse where the established state Protestant religion is
officially anti-Catholic, but most British people, both Catholics and
Anglicans, were grateful to assign them to history's waste bin.

"I'm not going to have some bloody reactionary German Pope dictate the
law of our land," said one minister quoted by Mary Ann Sieghart.

I'd say both MSM memes are wrong. Before the war, Hagel was already
widely disdained within his party as a pol who reveled in the "strange
new respect" the liberal press typically lavishes on GOP apostates...

To answer these questions we must unlearn much of what we have been
taught.

Only by freeing ourselves from the grip of widely held myths can we
grasp the roots of hunger and see what we can do to end it.

Myth 1

Not Enough Food to Go Around

Reality: Abundance, not scarcity, best describes the world's food
supply. Enough wheat, rice and other grains are produced to provide
every human being with 3,500 calories a day. That doesn't even count
many other commonly eaten foods - vegetables, beans, nuts, root crops,
fruits, grass-fed meats, and fish. Enough food is available to provide
at least 4.3 pounds of food per person a day worldwide: two and half
pounds of grain, beans and nuts, about a pound of fruits and
vegetables, and nearly another pound of meat, milk and eggs-enough to
make most people fat! The problem is that many people are too poor to
buy readily available food. Even most "hungry countries" have enough
food for all their people right now. Many are net exporters of food
and other agricultural products.
